Hello Future Roboticists,
Greetings from the Central Illinois Robotics Club (CIRC). This email is being sent to those who expressed an interest in our class "Building and Programming a Mini Sumo Robot" at our 2016 Engineering Day exhibit at the Peoria Riverfront Museum, at one of our monthly club meetings, or through personal contact with a club member. Thank you for your interest. We are happy to announce the dates and venue for the 2016 class. Session #2: Workshop, Advanced Topics, Practice Competitions Date: Saturday, July 16, 2016 Time: 1:00 - 4:00 PM Location: Bradley University, Jobst Hall, Room 114 The standard robot platform for the class will be the Pololu Zumo 32U4, a small pre-assembled robot with built-in sensors for robot sumo, line following, navigation, obstacle avoidance, and many other tasks. By the end of the first session you will be able to write and download programs to your Zumo 32U4 robot, and will have a working sumo robot ready to add your personal touches. The second session will be a hands-on workshop with practice competitions between students. After completing the class you will have a robot ready to enter in our 2016 Bot Brawl competition on August 13, 2016. You will need to bring a laptop computer running Windows or Linux, a USB A to Micro-B cable, a Zumo 32U4 robot, and 4 AA batteries. During the class you will install the Arduino software to program the robot. There is no charge for the class. Your only cost will be the robot itself. On that front, we are happy to announce that Pololu is offering a discount on the robot for students in the class. Details to be sent to enrolled students. $100 To enroll in the class (either or both sessions), please email Karen Raab (grosse_hund@juno.com). We will follow up with additional details on the class and how to obtain the discount from Pololu.
